Kay Stephan, professor emeritus of Business Technology at the University of Akron, opened her etiquette training company, Classic Protocol, in Canal Fulton, Ohio in 2000. Since then she has traveled coast-to-coast providing etiquette training for businesses, professional organizations and university leadership programs. Armed with academic experience and primary research, Kay customizes programs to fit an organization’s specific needs, which gives clients a competitive edge in today’s challenging business environment.

Kay is the author of Peak Performance for Office Professionals, published by the Bureau of Education and Research in 2005 and 2006, and has written several chapters in academic books. She is known for presenting serious topics with a light touch. Her etiquette articles have been published in newspapers and magazines, and she has been extensively interviewed on radio and television, and offers an etiquette hotline through her email.

Kay’s experience includes being the interim Public Relations Director at the National First Ladies Library and Museum, where she worked directly with Mary Regula, the wife of U.S. Congressman Ralph Regula from Ohio. She continues to volunteer for the library as a docent, representing former First Lady Lou Henry Hoover.
